This lovely bronze sculpture is a later copy of the famous "Cupid Mending his Bow" by French sculptor, Claude Michael Clodion. The wonderful chocolate colored patina is gorgeous and in wonderful condition.
This antique statue dates from about 1900, and is mounted on a red marble base. Embossed into the base is Clodion's signature. His dates are 1738-1814, and is especially well known for Rococo figures like this - cupids in playful but sophisticated scenes, done with exquisite skill and insight. One of his later works is on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
A wonderful example of his works of art, measurements are 20" tall and 14" wide and weighs 40 lbs.
