This magnificent 1825 Gothic Revival design grandfather or tall case clock has a case of vibrant mahogany with rosewood banding.
Signed "Pemberton and Cooke" on the hand painted dial, we could find very little additional information, outside of a passing reference to another such clock made in 1810. The wonderful wood grain has a fine old finish in beautiful condition, note typical shrinkage separations.
This is imposing furniture, pleasingly well proportioned. There is repainting on the dial, the engraved brass hour and minute hands appear original. The 8 day movement on this historic antique timepiece has been cleaned and oiled, and runs accurately, striking the hour. Size is 28" wide, 10" deep and 7'11" tall. T-C1678
