Carved about 1925 in the English Tudor manner, this 9 pc. dining set comprises six dining chairs, table with two draw leaves, "hunt board" or sideboard and china cabinet.
Chairs include a pair of grandly scaled armchairs. Recent deep charcoal faux leather upholstery is in very good condition on this American made furniture. Frames are strong and tight, the deep brown finish is in excellent condition on solid oak. Spring seats are comfortable. The pair of throne like host chairs measures 26" wide, 24" deep, 49" tall and seats are 19" high. Four side chairs are 21" wide, 23" deep and 38" tall.
The table has an inlaid quarter sawn oak panel and inlaid banding. Size when closed is 42" wide, 30" tall, legroom is over 24" underneath, and 68" long, with both pull out leaves extended, length is 8' 10" overall.
Hunt board doors have carved Renaissance motifs against a hand "tooled" background. The hunt board was traditionally used for a cold supper of smoked meats, fish and cheese after a hunting party returned. Measurements are 38" wide, 18" deep and 36 1/2" tall.
The china cabinet has a trestle base frame that is strong and tight. Dovetailed drawers have original brass pulls and classic "linenfold" carving. Doors have carved Renaissance motifs against a hand "tooled" background. Measurements are 42" wide, 18" deep and 55" tall.
