Florence Italy 5 Pc. Carved King Bedroom Set

Sleep like royalty in this spectacular carved and hand-painted set with a king size bed, crafted in Florence, Italy about 1920. This 5 piece antique bedroom set includes a bed adapted to fit a standard modern king size mattress, tall chifferobe or armoire, dresser with mirror, dressing table with flip up mirror and bedside table.

This furniture is walnut with a very fine finish, delicate painted and shaded accents and deep hand carving in the Renaissance style that is synonymous with Florence. Drawers are hand dovetailed and spiral columns are stunning. On the bed are heraldic crests with family symbols - a standing lion and motto in Latin, "Hic Labor, Hoc Opus," translated as "This Work, That Deed."

Wonderful patina gives the look of Renaissance furniture, burnished and aged for the patina of centuries.

The bed has been skillfully adapted from two single beds to standard king size, measuring 6'11" wide, 7'2" long, the headboard is 53" tall, and the footboard is 2' tall. A small armoire, also called a chifferobe, is 39" wide, 23" deep and 5'2" tall.

The dresser with carved mirror is 4' wide, 2' deep and 6'4" tall, and the bedside table is 22" wide, 17" deep and 34" tall.

A table opens into a dressing table, with a flip up mirror that is discolored with age. Finished on all sides, there is some wear to the interior. Closed, measurements are 40" wide, 25" deep and 31" tall.

This radiant set is signed with a stamp under a drawer, "Fratelli Pauletti (Brothers), Firenze (Florence) Italy."
