A classic New England cherry and tiger maple chest or dresser was hand-made about 1825. This dresser was called "chimney pot" design because the back-splash had "chimneys" at both ends like a New England house of the era. The workmanship is outstanding.
Drawers have hand-cut dovetails and chamfered bottoms, the back is paneled and hand-planed. The top is a single wide plank. The gleaming golden finish is excellent, and there are a few shrinkage separations from age, see photos. Shaped columns are beautiful atop turned feet.
Size of this American antique furniture with generous storage and well-balanced proportions is 48" wide, 21" deep, 54" tall and the top surface is 46" high.
