Hand crafted of solid cherry about 1840, this wonderful pair of American Empire poster beds has an old finish with glowing warm patina.
Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft cloth will maintain their luster. There are minor mars for antique character on this American made furniture, said to be from Pennsylvania.
Iron bolts secure the substantial frames together. Holes in the ends show where ropes were once threaded through this historic pair of "rope" beds. We have fitted upholstered bunky boards or pallets as shown which will support a modern standard twin or single size mattress without using a spring unit. The mattress shown is 7" tall.
Overall size is 40" wide, 83" long and posts are 54" tall.
