A fantastically carved Renaissance design backbar server and china cabinet has stunning three dimensional sculpted court jesters, having a royal jester in a family was a great honor.
- Danish antique 1890s furniture
- A jester told the king the truth in a comical way, keeping him informed of good and bad news from around the kingdom
- Not a hereditary aristocrat, a jester was appointed for a term
- Solid walnut
- Deeply hand sculpted dragons, birds, and faces with spiral columns and raised panels
- Old finish has been waxed and buffed, preserving minor wear & dings. All that is needed to maintain the soft luster is an occasional wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
- Minor shrinkage separations & warped doors from age - see photos
- Ornate brass hardware is original
- Drawers have solid oak sides with hand cut dovetail joints
- Working double throw locks and keys
- Adjustable wood shelving
- Extra thick shaped removable marble top has minor scratches and has been cleaned and sealed for protection
- Disassembles into two pieces, crest & finials are removable
Size is 67.5" wide, 25.5" deep and 104" tall without removable crest. With crest, overall height is 112.5" tall.
