A classic British design, this solid oak pewter cupboard is often called a Welsh Dresser. Hand made about 1870, the old finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster.
There is lots of antique character - stains, warps and shrinkage separations from age. Drawers have hand cut tiny dovetails, joints are secured with carved wooden pegs. The removable gallery has brass cup or mug hooks and a pine back.
Measurements of this warm country house furniture from the British Isles are 66 1/2" wide, 19" deep, 6' 7 1/2" tall and the top surface is 37" high.
