From the fabled Black Forest, where Germany, Switzerland and France meet, this solid oak china cabinet or bookcase has deeply carved sculptures lions or griffins and birds. Dating from around 1890, spiral columns are amazing. These grand cabinets were often dowry pieces, descending with the daughter of a wealthy families.
The top surface has been revarnished for durability. The rest of the original finish is very well preserved, and has been waxed and buffed, so all that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
The upper section has adjustable shelves on this antique European furniture. Drawers have original carved pulls, doors have working locks.
Measurements are 57" wide, 24" deep and 90 1/2" tall, the serving area is 38 1/2" tall.
