A wonderful set of eight hand carved dining chairs with angel or cherub motifs and spiral carved legs were artistically hand carved around 1890 in the Black Forest, where Germany, Switzerland and France meet. Seats are newly upholstered.
The original finish is very well preserved with warm antique patina, and has been waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain the warm luster is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Solid fruitwood frames are tight and strong on this durable European furniture, reglued to serve another generation.
Measurements of the two armchairs are 27" wide, 24" deep, 46" tall and seats are 19" high. Six side chairs are 20" wide, 22" deep and 44" tall.
