A beautiful Country French, Provincial bookcase or china display cabinet was carved of solid wormy oak around 1780.
Hand planing and chisel marks, traditional moldings and carved wooden pegs at the joints are authentic on this historic furniture from France.
The old finish has warm antique patina, waxed and buffed so all that is needed to maintain its rich glow is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth.
There are various restorations over the centuries. The crown is removable for easier moving. Doors have a working double throw lock and key, old but not original. Massive lift off hinges are original.
Interior depth is 13," the back is hand hewn panels. Width at the crown is 61", the body is 54" wide, depth is 18" and height is 7' 5."
