This lovely walnut armoire has an expertly carved feather crest with family motto, "Ich Dien" in German, or "I Serve," said to be from Vienna. Finely crafted about 1870, there are visible hand-cut dovetails on the back side. We see only small mars and chips at the edges. The walnut wood has gorgeous curly grain, especially in the arched doors with hand-carved crests.
A warm ruddy brown color, the finish is in excellent condition. Sturdy and strong furniture, bolts allow this antique to be disassembled for moving. The interior is empty, there are removable modern shelf standards inside to fit shelves if desired, or a closet pole could be installed. Measurements are 5'2" wide, 25" deep and almost 8'2" tall, the interior is 19" deep.
