This late Victorian or Eastlake period cylinder or barrel rolltop secretary desk with bookcase top dates from the 1880's.
Very well-proportioned, it is made of solid walnut with a smooth raising roll top of beautiful matched burl wood. The finish is excellent, and behind original wavy glass doors are adjustable bookshelves, the lock is working.
Inside the roll are cubby holes for papers, a tiny drawer and a slide-out writing surface with saddle leather. Engraved hardware is solid brass.
The upper section bookcase section is removable for easier handling. Measurements of this American antique furniture are 75" tall, 34" wide, 19" deep, and the slide out writing surface is 29 1/2" high..
