Hand-carved of walnut about 1930, this grand sideboard, server or hall console has a mirror with original gold leaf.
This antique furniture was crafted for the ante-room before the main dining room of a palazzo, the scene for reception and "antipasto" or appetizers before the main late evening dinner in the larger dining room.
The original warm brown finish is excellent with warm patina, brass hardware and working locks are also original.
Stunning artistry is shown in the Rococco shell crest and deeply carved and raised panels. Drawers have hand cut dovetails, side panels are raised, even back legs have detailed carving.
The distinctive design and very fine master craftsmanship originate around wealthy Milan in northern Italy, formerly the Grand Duchy of Piedmont.
This heroic antique furniture disassembles into two pieces for easier moving. The mirror glass has a little "smoke" for character, the genuine gold leaf frame is hand rubbed, showing some of the red ocher layer underneath.
Dimensions are 70" wide, 22" deep, 79" tall and the base is 43" high.
Matching pieces in photos are priced separately, call or email for availability.
