Made for a Chicago bank around 1900, a remarkably robust hat tree or coat rack has a massive green marble base and a cast bronze post and hooks.
The post is slightly scuffed, see photos. The bronze has naturally patinated with time, and is a nice deep color. Polished and sealed to resist stains, the Italian marble has beautiful graining and some restoration. The base is attached with a giant nut and can be removed with some difficulty. The shaft has always been very slightly off center, see photos.
Measurements are 16" diameter and 69 1/2" tall.
