A magnificent French Provincial bookcase or china cabinet was hand carved of solid fine grain oak about 1850 in the Louis Philippe manner.
Entirely hand crafted, joints have carved wooden pegs, the graceful arched crest is entirely carved by a master. Hand planing marks are everywhere, every detail is expertly crafted in the elegant but casual Country French style.
The finish is very fine with warm antique patina and just enough mars, stains and separations from age for a little character. The back panels are rough sawn on both the upper and lower sections. Doors lifts off on original brass hinges.
Beautifully proportioned furniture from France, size is 56" wide, 20" deep, 7' tall and the base cabinet is 38" high.
