French Gothic Carved 1900 Antique Oak Treasure Chest or Trunk

Spectacular Gothic artistry hand carved about 1900 in solid oak distinguishes this treasure chest or trunk from France.
Hand wrought and hammered iron mounts are original on this historic antique. Four ancestral branches of the family are represented with heraldic crests or coats of arms.
Corners are joined with hand cut dovetails and carved oak pegs are visible around the top. Although there are rugged handles, this European castle furniture is very heavy, crafted of 1 1/2" oak planks.
The original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina.
Dimensions are 54" long, 20" deep and 30" tall.
