A 1900 era antique statue captures the young "Lulli," English Lully, court composer to King Louis XIV and master of the French Baroque style.
The statue is spelter, a cast white metal alloy similar to pewter with an original rich patinated finish. There is just enough wear for antique patina, and we see no damage to this endearing sculpture.
Lulli was born in 1632 in Florence, and was a humble street musician, here emphasized with a cabbage and kettle. Eventually he was discovered and rose to the lofty position of musician to the King of France. A notorious libertine, he died at court in Paris in 1687.
Size of this elegant European work of art is 7" diameter and just over 20" tall.
