This exquisite 1950's marquetry desk with a cylinder or barrel roll top has diagonally matched mahogany inset with satinwood, tulipwood, ebony and rosewood. Two secret drawers are opened by hidden push buttons. Inlaid banding surrounds the finely detailed designs. There are minor mars and very little wear to the original polished finish, which is in excellent condition.
The top rolls smoothly up, inside are tiny drawers, a locking compartment and cubicles, Brass keys work in brass locks, the writing surface slides forward. Brass pulls, paw feet and mounts are original on this vintage furniture from Scandinavia. European craftsmanship is stellar on this elegantly proportioned desk with a gracefully bowed front.
Measurements of this serene desk are 37" wide, 22" deep, 42" tall and the writing surface is 30" high.
